Telomeres are located at the end of the chromosomes of a cell. Each time a cell divides, the telomeres get shorter; this process is called telomerase. If the cell keeps dividing; this is when the cell becomes cancerous. The quicker the cell shortens the faster you age.

Scientists have found some factors that shorten your telomeres, like lack of exercise, sleep, poor diet (sugar, processed foods, and comfort foods like ice cream, cookies, and cake.), alcohol, smoking, and pollution. Eliminating or reducing these factors could improve your quality of life.

I’m pretty sure you’re asking the question if these are factors that shorten my telomeres. What are the factors that extend them? I’m glad you asked, and they are omega 3, green tea, vitamin D (sunlight ), and zinc.

I found two exercises that extend your telomeres: high-intensity workouts and endurance aerobic-type exercises. Along with a plant-based diet high in fiber.

I’ve given you only one of many ways to improve your way of life. If you implement these changes, you should notice an improvement in your life. I know I have, so start today towards a healthier you by extending your telomeres.
